If we want to discuss success, we must discuss discipline. For some, it's an easy word to digest and for others, it may be more challenging.
Discipline
What does this word feel like you when say it?
I recently had a conversation with an amazing, bright client and we discussed how words such as routine and structure and discipline have gotten bad reputation.
Many who grew up in 80’s and 90’s were raised in very strict homes, many may have experienced heavy discipline that included spanking (this article isn’t to speak one way or another about spanking, but the reality there are some people, quite possibly many, who were traumatized from spankings) and left a traumatic response to the word discipline.
On the other hand, many of my mentors, who are 7 and 8 figure earners have this lifestyle because of their disciplined life. Book such as Think and Grow Rich teach us the importance of a disciplined life.
So, if something is so good, how can it feel so icky and wrong and stir up emotions of dread and fear and panic?
Perhaps, the association with this word has become skewed due to childhood, stressful jobs, teachers who bullied, and parents who used fear to get you to “walk the straight and narrow” and other such experiences.
If we know in our prefrontal cortex, that discipline can lead to health, a strong body, a successful career, a wise, strong leader, a excellent spouse or partner, a wonderful parent, how can we get the reptilian brain on board?
We have to change the story. Shift the pattern. Create a new neural pathway in the brain.
I help you begin to start the process with guided visualization. You can begin today by listening to this visualization which will help you create a new connection with the word discipline.
This is a great start. If you are ready to go all in, go deeper into implementing discipline and structure to create a transformation in attracting the right relationships, increasing revenue, looking beautiful in a custom made outfit, feeling confident in who you are, and more, studies show you can’t do it alone.
You need a mentor. Someone to hold you accountable, help you tap into your motivation, help you shift your patterns to greatness and expansion, help you develop action steps to get you the dreams you desire, and I would love to be that person for you.
