My Year of Transformation: How I Lost 40 Pounds, Gained Energy, and Unlearned Everything I Knew About Health

This past year has been nothing short of a journey—a journey of unlearning, re-learning, and discovering a new path to wellness. If you had told me a year ago that I would lose 40 pounds (70 total), gain more energy than I’ve felt in years, and shift my entire approach to fitness and nutrition, I would have been skeptical. But here I am, standing in my truth as your Hope Dealer Girlie, and I'm thrilled to share the highlights of this transformative journey with you.


The Overwhelm of Relearning Nutrition

For years, I felt trapped in a cycle of confusion and frustration. I knew I needed to eat high protein to support my body, especially with my challenges like insulin resistance and PCOS. But the more I tried to "do it right," the more overwhelmed I became. The idea of hitting my protein goals felt impossible until I discovered the magic of stacking.

By stacking, I mean combining different sources of protein to hit that magic number without feeling like I was forcing down another boring chicken breast. Collagen and plant-based protein became my best friends. A sprinkle of hemp seeds here, a scoop of flaxseed there, and suddenly, my meals were protein powerhouses. It wasn’t just about eating high protein anymore—it was about eating smart, flavorful, and nutrient-dense meals.





From 400 Steps to 10,000: Finding Joy in Movement

A year ago, the idea of walking 10,000 steps felt as distant as running a marathon. I was averaging 400 steps a day, and every attempt to push past that left me drained. But as I started to unlearn my old patterns of pushing myself too hard too fast, I learned the importance of small, consistent changes.

I began with a simple goal: move a little more each day. Over time, my 400 steps turned into 1,000, then 2,000, and before I knew it, I was walking 7,000 to 10,000 steps a day. The key was consistency and grace—allowing myself to celebrate every small win without getting overwhelmed by the bigger picture.

Lifting Heavy: From 10 Pounds to 60

Strength training used to intimidate me. I could barely lift 10 pounds, and the idea of going heavier felt out of reach. But as I committed to my journey, I started to build my strength gradually. I learned to listen to my body, understanding when to push and when to rest.

Now, I can lift between 30 and 60 pounds, and the confidence that comes with this strength is incredible. It’s not just about the physical gains—it’s about the mental resilience I’ve developed along the way.


The Game Changer: Incorporating Frequency into My Routine

  2. Stay Consistent: Small, consistent changes lead to big results. Don’t overwhelm yourself by trying to do everything at once. Start with one small habit, like walking a few extra steps each day.

Here are some of my favorite recipes that helped me stack protein and stay on track:

Breakfast:

  1. Protein-Packed Oatmeal: Combine oats, protein powder, collagen, hemp seeds, flax seeds, blueberries, chocolate chips, and almond milk to make a delicious, nutritious oatmeal.

  2. Egg and Avocado Combo: Scramble 2 eggs with 1/2 cup of egg whites, top with avocado, and serve with 1/2 an English muffin, chicken sausages, and a side of blueberries.

Lunch:

  1. Chicken Thigh Wrap: Sauté chicken thighs with black beans and avocado on a gluten-free tortilla, topped with lettuce.

  2. Chicken and Lentil Salad: Mix chicken and lentils on a bed of kale with carrots, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and dried cranberries.

Dinner:

  1. High-Protein Stir Fry: Sauté chicken breasts with mixed vegetables (like broccoli, snap peas, and carrots), serve over cauliflower rice, and top with a sprinkle of hemp seeds.

  2. Lentil and Chicken Stew: Slow cook chicken thighs with lentils, onions, celery, carrots, and garlic in a broth seasoned with thyme and bay leaves, and serve with a side of roasted sweet potatoes.

This journey has taught me that transformation doesn’t happen overnight, but with persistence, grace, and the right tools, anything is possible.
