The kids barely started back to school before my social media news feeds were flooded with stories of kids getting sick within the first week. My heart goes out to those kids and the mommies that are doing double duty and nursing them back to health. Pretty soon, not only are germs floating everywhere, but Halloween candy will be prevalent. Who am I kidding?! Christmas cookies are probably about to make their appearance any day now too!
The biggest cause of flu is sugar intake. Watch. No flu until the next four months of tons of sugar consumed at fall festivals, trick or treating, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's, etc. American's eat so much sugar the last 3 months of the year, and then we are surprised at the amount of sickness that happens.
I'm not asking you to be perfect, but I am asking you to fall in love with you this fall season. Focus predominately on fueling yourself with nutrients that will give you energy, boost your immune system, and keep from getting all the yuckies out there.
Here's a recipe that is incredible for so many reasons. It's my go to if my stomach doesn't feel well, or if I need energy, good carbs, etc:
Recipe:
6 peeled carrots
2 peeled apples
1 inch of peeled ginger
juice of 1 lemon
Juice and serve within 48 hours or freeze it after juicing to preserve the enzymes.
